PHOTO: ‘Ponding’ in MRT train?

Posted by temasektimes on March 14, 2012

Not only are trains being delayed today, it seems that at least one of them has ‘flooded’ or rather, ‘ponded’ as well. A netizen was caught in the ‘ponding’ and uploaded the photo below to STOMP:

“I thought I was lucky when I saw empty seats in the train. Then, I realized why the seats were empty. It’s ‘raining’ in the train! It had been leaking since I boarded the train at Sengkang and the leak got worse throughout the train journey.”

Some responses from netizens on Facebook:

“Parklane tio flood. MRT oso tio flood? LOL” – Veronica Lim

“World Class tansportation indeed!!! Uniquely Singapore!!!” – Winston Ng

“Train ponding ??? Some one call PUB check with the CEO what happen ??” – Peter Tan

Will ‘ponding’ in MRT trains become a new phenomenon now in ‘First World’ Singapore?

It is obviously resulted to poor maintenance over the years with series of train breakdowns and parts problems, though the government has created the ISO Quality and Service Policy and is to be audited yearly for most companies doing businesses in Singapore, really surprise and think it shouldn’t happen to government listed company SMRT.
