SMRT train delayed along North-South line due to ‘faulty aircon’

Posted by temasektimes on March 21, 2012

A SMRT train was delayed along the North-South line this morning at around 8am due to a ‘faulty aircon’.

According to commuters, they were asked to leave the train which was pulled out of service and subsequently had to wait for the next train. However, one angry netizen Cynthia Anne wrote that she was late for work because the subsequent trains which came were too crowded to be boarded:

“I had to alight from the ‘faulty’ and crowded train… And they said board the next train… where another crowd was waiting at the platform… And after three crowded trains passed… still cannot board… Just don’t understand what they think of us…”

Another irate netizen ‘popimac’ ranted on Hardwarezone forum:

“‎Heard one train all ppl need to alight at amk due to train fault. Then my train announcement said due to congestion ahead, train will be delayed. WTH”

Train delays and breakdowns have become a common occurrence in Singapore nowadays.

The latest delay was reported by the radio stations, but not by any of the mainstream papers.

I wonder who got the wrong information. That is a NEL train cabin that belongs to SBS Transit. Please do some homework before sparking flames. :)

First world country but 3rd world trains now. SIA is flying for decades. Yet, the maintenance is excellent. The train operators will do well to learn from SIA about safety and quality. Just because it is a train, maintenance is just as important.
