PHOTO: 7 years of FREE education for Sun Xu starting in the class of 2005, River Valley High School

Posted by temasektimes on March 27, 2012

A junior of NUS PRC scholar Sun Xu sent us a photo of him in his younger days:

“I would like to highlight the fact that Sun Xu was imported in the year 2005, not 2006 as you pointed out. As I belong to the Class of 2006, I feel disturbed to be seen as his peer then.

He spent two years (Sec 3 and 4) in River Valley High School. He belongs to Class of 2005. River Valley High imports, on average, 2 classes of them and they would constitute the bulk of Chinese Literature subject classes. Attached is his class photo from the yearbook of 2005 and you will find the rest of the faces and names smudged to protect their identities.”

Now with Sun Xu being let off the hook by NUS, he can graduate happily in July this year and look back at his seven years of FREE EDUCATION in Singapore with delight and glee.

Just one slight correction… I believe CNA has clarified in its report that Sun Xu will be delayed graduation by one term – ie. February 2013 – and work for 6 years thereafter. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

“Mr Sun will also be graduating later. The final-year mechanical engineering student would have graduated in June this year. As part of his penalties, he must take on an additional semester and will now graduate in FEBRUARY (emphasis mine) next year. Mr Sun will also need to pay for the additional semester.”

Is the Education Ministry discriminates among the Chinese of Singapore. Why is it there are Chinese schools for certain groups of Chinese people, whilst the rest have to go to English Schools.

if you haven’t realize by now, this state country is run like the Dynasties in China e.g (Ming, Qing etc). In such dynasties, only scholars are able to hold high government positions (e.g military, law, etc). commoners are peasants, the elites will breed future elites and scholars..
