Ex-Singaporean shocked at the number of ‘low class’ PRC nationals in the city upon return to Singapore

An ex-Singaporean Wing Lee Cheong who migrated to Canada in the 1960s as a young man was shocked at the number of PRC nationals in Singapore upon visiting Singapore last month.

Mr Wing has worked in China for more than ten years and knows many intelligent and polite PRC Chinese.

In a posting on Facebook, he expressed his astonishment at the ‘quality’ of the PRC nationals in Singapore:

“When I visited Singapore last month, I was shocked by the amount of PRC FTs in the city. They seem to be everywhere, shouting, pushing and all the bad habits from China. I have lived and worked in China for more than 10 years and I know lots of very intelligent, polite and well mannered Chinese. Somehow, these Chinese FTs are from the bottom of the barrel that the Chinese government does not want.”

He also wondered the economic value of middle-aged PRC women whom he observed flirting around with elderly Singaporean men in Chinatown which has become a common scene nowadays:

“What economic values can these middle age women bring to Singapore except to con those dirty old men of their retirement fund. Go check it out in Chinatown.”

He ended with by bidding farewell to native Singaporeans.

The number of PRC nationals in Singapore is not known. In an interview with National Geographic magazine two years ago, former Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew said it is a ‘good thing’ that Singapore is welcoming so many Chinese immigrants (from mainland China) as they are ‘harder-driving’ and ‘harder-striving’ than locals.
