Singaporeans rally behind family of late cabby Cheng Teck Hock to offer help and support

Singaporeans from all walks of life have come together to offer help and support to the family of the late cabby Cheng Teck Hock (pic left) who was involved in a fatal car crash caused by a reckless PRC driver Ma Chi last week.
Mr Cheng leaves behind three children aged between 16 and 21 years old. His eldest daughter just graduated from a local polytechnic and may have to put her plans to further her studies in the university on hold.
Law Minister and MP for Nee Soon GRC Mr Shanmugam visited Mr Cheng’s wake on Tuesday and promised help for his family.
He said he has received emails from some people, offering to help.
“It really is heartwarming to be reminded that we live amongst caring individuals that make up our society,” he said on Friday.
The National Taxi Association said on Friday that donations have also been made by fellow taxi drivers and the public, among them are Mr Toh Soon Huat and Mr Jackson Teo, who each donated S$5,000.
The Temasek Times has also received numerous emails from our readers offering financial assistance and support to the family and jobs to Stephanie Cheng, his eldest daughter.
The employers and companies offering vacant positions come from various fields – from IT, Human Resource, F&B to healthcare. We have already emailed the offers and contacts to a relative of the family.
Comfort Delgro has started a donation drive for Mr Cheng’s family.
Members of the public can make cheques payable to “LIM CHOO ENG” and mail them to:

Donors should indicate their names on the back of their cheques.

In times like this , it is always the man in the street has been most generous in their offering.
You seldom hear the elites come forward to offer generously because they are busy with buying the next luxury car or attending opening parties.

Yes, agree. I dun see any of our ministers who earned astronomical salaries even forking out a single cent for donation. It were those ordinary people who make extraordinary moves like these that really moves us.
