Png Eng Huat clarifies: Part of ‘procedure’ for EVERY candidate in the team to be included in ballot for NCMP post
Posted by temasektimes on May 22, 2012
WP candidate for Hougang Mr Png Eng Huat has apologized for causing ‘confusion’ to those who thought he had ‘literally’ omitted his name from the ballot papers.
Mr Png had earlier claimed he did not consider himself for the NCMP post as he was ‘against’ it.
“I actually took my name out of the ballot for the NCMP post. Because I have a personal stand against the NCMP scheme, so that’s why my name wasn’t in the ballot. So I don’t think DPM knows all of these.“
However, in an email sent to Lianhe Zaobao, one WP insider revealed that contrary to what Mr Png had said, his name was on the ballot and he received only one vote for the position.
The anonymous source go on to say that Mr Png had never stated he was against the NCMP scheme:
“Nowhere in this meeting did Png Eng Huat indicate to the CEC to remove his name from the ballot. In fact there was one CEC vote for him.”
Speaking to queries from the media during a walkabout this morning, Mr Png reiterated that he had told WP Chief Low Thia Kiang that he did not want to be considered for the NCMP seat, but it was ‘part of the procedure’ for every candidate in the team to be included for consideration in the ‘secret ballot’ by the CEC.
However, in the CEC minutes provided by the informant, the names of other two East Coast candidate Glenda Han and Mohd Fazli were NOT in the ballot:

The WP East Coast GRC team comprised of Eric Tan, Gerald Giam, Png Eng Huat, Glenda Han and Mohd Fazli. Eric Tan resigned from WP after he was sidelined by Gerald Giam for the NCMP position while Mohd Fazli left a few days after Yaw Shin Leong was expelled from the party.
Mr Png declined to comment further and said Mr Low will be addressing the issue during a WP rally in Hougang tonight.
Though Mr Png is the candidate for Hougang, he appeared to be overshadowed by Mr Low who has been doing most of the walking and talking for him.
The seat of Hougang was left vacant after its ex-WP MP Yaw Shin Leong was sacked from the party for his failure to address swirling rumors around his alleged extramarital affairs with multiple married women, including two key WP female leaders.
Regardless of the truth, the result of the vote does reveal that Mr Png wasn’t that highly regarded within WP after all.

Desmond is also not highly regarded in the PAP, otherwise he wld hv bn slated for post of DPM or PM!! So it’s not a minus point for Png. But if elected in Hougang beating Desmond in a landslide victory, he’ll be a beacon bearer in sinkies’ fight for accountability and transparency in ruling PAPies’ clique to the commoners who hv bn marginalised by their elitist policies.
Hougang voters will not be distracted by TT’s relentless onslaught to confuse and divide them against the WP. Vote WP!!!

Mr Png, even if the paper is real, it does not matter, we are still behind you all the way.
We hope Mr Low can clarify the matter well so that all the mud-slinging started by Teo Chee Hean will stop.
Even if you are ‘not top candidate’, you can still be very effective eg. Goh Chok Tong, Tony Tan were all second choices. Many PAP MPs were parachuted in. PAP was opposition once and Desmond Choo was soundly beaten before.
All ahead WP!

Its so obvious the Png lied. I cannot imagine the CEC still allowing the ballot of an individual that does not want to serve as an NCMP. WP states that CEC has the power to decide regardless of what the candidate wants…Does WP have its own whip which it so fervently against? Does it mean then if an individual does not want to be NCMP, the CEC is going to collectively force him into parliament to speak if he is voted in? If Png already stated so clearly that he does not want to be included in the ballot, he could have been easily taken out of the vote like the other two did. Its obvious they did not craft their response clearly. It is obvious they have splinter groups within. It is obvious that they are not as transparent as they put themselves out to be.

It looks like mutual masterbation going on. Its a well plan deception effort by PAP. How what has happened
1. You setup a site that appears to be pro-opposition and suck in all the people.
2. You control the content and what posts get to keep on the forum.
3. You have a team of people to put in pro-PAP stuff (but diguise it lah)
4. Then you get MSM newspaper to say that even pro-opposition sites are now more balanced in criticizing – they do it to both PAP and WP (or opposition). Of course all the criticism of oppostion is planted.
They are hoping that this will change the perception that people are angry with PAP. What a grand scheme. It must have cost quite a lot of effort and money to organize. Only a self serving government will resort to trying to fool the citizens like this. Its plain dispicable!

They plant all these xenophobic comments to stir shit. Then turn around to say – see, we need to stop these.
Time for Code of Conduct for Internet! More rules!
Don’t pull this kind of stunt lah..

Which idiot wrote this article? The twisted illogic sounds like Desmond Choo’s double-talk. Temasek Times sounds like a PAP mouth-piece.

Idiotic post. Why don’t you go ask why PM has 2 DPM posts? Is it because neither one is the best man for this top job?
Or how about why PM lee got 2 senior mentors for the longest time? Is it because they are not confident he is the best man for the job?

This website is a big fail. As a pro pappy and anti wp website. It should at least attract the right audiences eg., the pap supporters and/or wp bashers, just like how TRE attracts the antipap and/or wp supporters. Instead, this website attracts the opposite grp of pple e.g., no pappies here but all wp supporters. Trust me once the by election is over this website will be gone.

I give Temasek Times higher marks than TR Emeritus because it exercises more control over scandalous remarks, vulgur remarks and other nonsense that I see more often at TRE.
As for this by-election, so far I am more impressed with Desmond Choo who has chosen the high road… stay away from Yawgate, NCMPgate and other nasty remarks. He concentrates on serving and offering to serve the Hougang residents. Let the PAP big wigs slam the WP.
My prediction: PAP will win. It has nothing to do with whether TT is pro-PAP or that TRE is anti-PAP. It is my personal views.
