Posted by temasektimes on May 18, 2012

The family of the late Cheng Teck Hock (pic left) wants to put the past behind them and move on in life.

Mr Cheng was involved in a fatal accident at Bugis last Saturday morning when a speeding Ferrari driven by PRC national Ma Chi rammed into his Comfort Delgro taxi at a junction between Rochor Road and Victoria Street.

He died of his injuries on Sunday evening, leaving behind his wife Lim Choo Eng and three children aged between 16 and 21 years old.

In an interview with Lianhe Zaobao, Madam Lim said:

“We will not blame anybody, just hope to let everything pass.”

(“不会责怪任何人,希望让一切都成为过去。”)

Madam Lim also thank members of the public for their offer of condolence and support to help the family tide over this difficult period in life.

There is still no apology or offer of compensation to the victims from Ma Chi’s family yet whose wealth is reported to be in ‘millions’ by the media.

Singaporean cabby Cheng Teck Hock fought for one more day to spend Mother’s Day with his wife and children

Posted by temasektimes on May 14, 2012

Yesterday was Mother’s Day. When most Singaporeans are happily celebrating the day with their families, one Singaporean family was grieving in hospital with the life of the father hanging by a thin thread.

Singaporean cabby Cheng Teck Hock (秦德福) who was involved in a tragic accident at Bugis on Saturday morning was given no more than half a day to live after being declared brain dead by doctors at Tan Tock Seng Hospital on 12 May 2012, but he soldiered on with determination to spend Mother’s Day with his wife and three children.

Mr Cheng was driving his taxi across a junction in Bugis when a speeding red Ferrari driven by a PRC ‘foreign talent’ Ma Chi appeared out of nowhere and rammed into it.

“His lungs, liver and brain are all bleeding massively. Doctors said as the bleeding occurred in the center part of his brain, they are unable to operate on him,” his wife told the media, breaking down in tears.

In an interview with Lianhe Zaobao, Mr Cheng’s son Cheng Dao Han (秦道汉) said his father managed to hold on for 39 hours with extraordinary determination:

“We thought father would not last the first night, so I stay behind to accompany him in hospital together with my younger brother. His blood pressure was already very low, but his heart beat still maintained at a rate of above 100. The doctor said he was using his determination to hang on. Till the last moment, we did not request the doctor to use drugs to prolong his life as we do not want him to suffer in pain.”

Mr Cheng eventually passed away at 7.07pm on 13 May 2012, leaving behind his wife, two sons and a daughter. He is the sole breadwinner of the family. His eldest daughter just graduated from a local polytechnic and is putting her plans to further her studies in the university as a result of the family tragedy.

Meanwhile, the pro-foreigner mainstream media continues to downplay the role of the PRC driver in causing the tragic accident by portraying him as an innocent ‘victim’ and giving extensive publicity to his grieving family to win public sympathy while conveniently ignoring the plight and suffering of the real victims who have died or suffered serious injuries as a result of Ma Chi’s reckless and dangerous driving.

The Chinese tabloids had earlier heaped generous praises on Ma Chi, glamorizing him as “Young and Capable, Tall and Handsome” (年轻有为,高大英俊) and trumpeting his numerous ‘contributions’ to Singapore since arriving from Sichuan province a few years ago:
