Vikram Nair: It is ‘deceptive’ of TOC to attribute ‘LIES’ to me

Posted by temasektimes on March 2, 2012

PAP MP and lawyer Vikram Nair has slammed socio-political blog The Online Citizen (TOC) for attributing ‘lies’ to him.

TOC had earlier published an article by Ng Ee-Jay this morning with the misleading title “Vikram Nair compares Chen Show Mao’s proposals to a Nigerian scam” with a photo of Mr Nair on top and attributed to him the following quote: “Investing in People = Nigerian Scam”.

In a detailed explanation posted on his Facebook, Mr Nair rubbished the TOC’s article:

“The key thrust of this article is that I considered investing in the elderly, the disabled, the poor and other needy Singaporeans as being akin to a Nigerian scam.  The insinuation is that I do not care about these groups is totally false.”

Mr Nair added that he had never said anywhere in his parliamentary speech that “Investing in people = Nigerian scam” and described the attribution as ‘false’ and ‘misleading’.

This is not the first time TOC had attributed lies to PAP MPs to portray them in a negative light. In December last year, it twisted the words of another MP Seng Han Thong made on BlogTV to make him sound like a ‘racist’, sparking an outcry among netizens who were misled by its article.

So what will this Nair say about the government doing more to the private PTO by paying $1.1 billion extra to help them purchase and operate more buses, and boost their income capability as the population is picking up?

Why does Mr chen says that? Because TH and GLC keep boosting of how much they earn in investment over the years….Those investment are raking good profits, so they ought to give back to the people.
