Women’s group supports charging of 48 men and imposing gag order on identity of underage prostitute Miss XXX

The high profile prostitution case which has led to 48 men being charged so far for having sex with the same underage prostitute has led to some Singaporeans to question the rationale behind protecting her identity.
Prominent criminal lawyer Subhas Anandan went as far as condemning her publicly as a ‘hardcore prostitute’ who deserved no protection from the law.
However, one women’s group has stepped forward to lend public support to the authorities for doing so.
In a press statement released today, the Singapore Committee for UN Women or Unifem Singapore says it is heartened by “the government’s commitment to curb such activities and protect vulnerable young people from exploitation”.
“These laws place the onus on adults to act responsibly, lawfully and refrain from engaging in undesirable acts, especially with minors,” said the statement.
It added that it supports the decision to impose a gag order to prevent external parties from revealing the identity of the girl involved, who is now known as Miss XXX in the media.
Among the 48 men already charged include 9 civil servants, a senior banker, a company director, a senior vice-president of a private company, lawyers, a senior police officer, the former principal of Pei Chun Public School Lee Lip Hong and prominent grassroots leader and high-ranking MOE official Chua Ren Cheng. Their ages range from between 21 to 48 years old.
The prostitute was 17 years old at that time she had sex with the men and she reportedly kept a detailed diary documenting meticulously and clearly the time and place she was bonked which will be used as evidence to prosecute her ex-clients.
Meanwhile, she is now free to continue prostituting herself and keep her earnings as she is now above the legal age to have sex with men.

This has nothing to do with women’s group embracing prostitution, it lies with home education. But then again, the women’s group should really keep their mouth shut cause this whole incident has nothing to do with them. And, perhaps re-evaluate their efforts on educating and extending counseling services to their female youth counterparts.

This article is about a society of fanny owners who support the idea of illegal prostitution and believes that she should be protected and go unpunished despite being underaged and selling her CB at time of offence.

Suddenly now ST says is down to 62 men, so is 62-48 = 14 men left.
What happened to the mysterious 18 from the original 80? Was there some heavy weight col or elites who managed to pay/flee/negotiate their way out?
This case is too shady….no full transparency.

We can easily find out who are the men exempted from the prosecution. Since the log-book (which was meticulously kept by the prostitute) was a material evidence against all the men, the defence lawyer has the right to ask the prosecution to provide this evidence for examination. Once this log-book is available to the defence lawyer or the public we will know for sure who were the lucky men exempted.
We can then investigate whether these lucky men have got enough merits to be so exempted.

I think this women group is encouraging prostitution of underage girl. They speakibg up for the sake of speaking. Don’t they feel shame of being women? So are they also protecting female prostitutes? The easiest way to avoid being charged for sex with the minor is to deny any penetration. The law makes it an offence only if there is penetration, either normally or orally or anally. There is no offence if the man cannot erect, or he gets for only assisted masturbation or massage service from the girl.
Presumably, inside the private bedroom with only the girl and the man involved there is no way that the prosecution can prove that there was penetration. Moreover, it is also in the interest of the girl (to enable her to continue her lucrative business) if she corroborates with the man that there was no penetration, just play play only.

When the men engaged in sexual relationship with the prostitute. They all believed that the girl was at Legal age. They paid, it’s a transaction. Have they known that the girl was only 17, there could be a possibility that all those men would not have sex with her. Thus, the Singapore Committee for UN Women is just saying for the sake of saying something. All the men had the original intention to pay for sex from a 18 yr old prostitute which is legal in Singapore. So please don’t put salt on their wounds and say things without thinking.
Those men were cheated, betrayed, shamed. For life. Those men were victims as well.
I’m not defending the men, but just put things into perspective and you would just see how bystanders just want to step on someone some more when they’re already kissing the floor.

Women’s groups support women by default, regardless the merits of the case. To them, equal rights means having the law in their favour, having all the privileges and none of the responsibilities that comes with equal rights. They probably also keep secret savings while critising their husbands if husbands don’t share everything. Women’s groups are all the same. You could give them the world, and they would still think you are cheating them.

I totally agree with u. This is because none of their family members fall under the name list. If one of the 48 man happens to be someone related to them. They won’t make this silly comment anymore. 16 and above can have sex but with money involve must be 18 above. Does that mean if the man don’t pay the hooker after sex, then he won’t be charged? I thought the law is must have evidence to proof they did commit it then can charged them. I personally feel that this law is not right. The principal is been jailed 9 weeks. Y not given a second chance y must destroy people like that. He is such a lousy judge. I am now worried for my 2 sons, will it still be safe to stay in Singapore or shall we migrate, I had been asking many husband every now and then. We can see a lot of molest cases almost everyday. A man was jailed for 9 months for touching a policewoman bum. How come the judge can have the heart to pass this sentence just because the man made a remark saying he has no problem finding girls due to his good looking face. I think the judge has taken this case very personal and bias.

“Girls, if you are under 18 and have a need to satisfy your needs for materialism, go and entice some men who are careless enough to patronize you when you prostitute yourself because the law will protect you even when the whole matter is exposed.”

So, no punishment for the girl who knowingly prostituting herself while underaged? I agreed that her identity should be protected as she is still a minor, but protecting identity is one thing but she should also be punished to deter others from following her route again. What a sexist law… damn
