Newly minted Hougang MP Png Eng Huat has been appointed as Vice-Chairman of Aljunied-Hougang Town Council.

The announcement was made via the Government Gazette on Monday.

Workers Party Chairman Sylvia Lim is the town council’s chairman while the other vice-chairman is WP Secretary-General Low Thia Kiang.

The remaining three MPs of the Aljunied GRC – Chen Show Mao, Pritam Singh and Muhamad Faisal – are also elected members of the Town Council.

Aljunied-Hougang Town Council was formed last year following the Workers Party’s capture of Aljunied GRC.

Mr Png won Hougang in a by-election two weeks ago by 62.09% of the votes. He is also the Chairman of the Hougang Constituency Committee, the grassroots arms of the Workers Party.
