HDB launches more than 4,000 new flats via 7 BTO projes

Posted by temasektimes on August 1, 2012

In a desperate attempt to ramp up the supply of new flats, HDB has launched 7 Build-to-order (BTO) projects offering more than 4,000 new flats to new buyers.

The flats are being offered in two non-mature towns of Choa Chu Kang and Punggol, and three mature towns of Bukit Merah, Clementi and Geylang.

This is the fourth BTO launch this year and HDB is projected to launch a total of 25,000 new flats in all this year.

Despite the recent launches, the prices of resale flats continue to rise, fueled by growing demand from both Singaporeans and PRs.

The prices of HDB flat have nearly doubled in the last five years and is the chief reason behind Singapore’s declining birth rates.

If this is the UK, Mah Bow Tan would be called to an inquiry to explain why he has left us with such a huge deficit of flats to meet demand.
