Only SGD20,000 compensated. I had a commando friend who died in one of his airborne. Spoke to his mom, that’s what she said to me. And he got promoted in his grave.

      That’s government for you.

Looks like just willing to spend more to get new citizen to integrate, than to pay to the dead soldier’s family, whom maybe their investment for retirement.
Very sad and hope no more dead soldier.

NS is not to die for the country. NS is to protect the FTs so that they will continue to grow Singapore’s economy and to pay our ministers and civil servants million dollar salaries. Long live PAP and glory to Lee Kuan Yew and his son Ah Loong Kor

Too bad you don’t have a powerful daddy to post you as a lab scientist.

My deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.

He was a brave warrior and loyal son of Singapore.

But let us not overlook the fact that there has been too many deaths of young Singaporeans serving their nation.

    What is going on?

Do we expect foreign talents to sacrifice their sons when they become citizens?

Are foreign talents willing to sacrifice their sons for the sake of citizenship?

Well it seems that foreigners must be willing to accept that there is a high probability that their sons will have to die serving the country, taking into account recent history.

True son of the soil. May Allah take you to his abode.

Rajan, I’ll join you in expression of my condolences to the family of the late Lance Corporal Muhammad Fahrurrazi Salim in this their moment of utmost grief.

Next, I want the family not to have sacrificed their son to the service of the nation to come to nought. We must look at an adequate and reasonable compensation package to his family and kin. Not to do so would demean us as a nation as mean spirited and lacking humanity.

Therefore, Dr Ng Eng Hen, Defence Minister, could you please look into this compensation issue and ensure that his beneficiaries are well looked after? Thank you in anticipation of a favourable response.

Sadly, we’ve again lost another of our own.

It is very sad to see that another young guy passed away like this. SAF should seriously reflect on their SOPs and Safety regulations and safeguard every NSFs and regulars serving the nation!!! Supposed to have a buddy but yet he is alone…

Can’t help concluding that we have more young men dying during peacetime training than other countries involved in armed conflicts.

      Can our paper generals explain?

This is true sacrifice by a Singaporean. Yet not a single Minister has come forward to offer condolences and word of support (including the useless Minister of Muslim Affairs).
Yet when a foreign born Singaporean wins a medal, Ministers quick to congratulate.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.. Rest in peace my brother !

just scrap ns and nobody will die

  24. Kim said

Scrap the fucking NS. There is no need to do this stupid service all for the glory of PAP.

    • Julie Ong said

      Good on you, Kim.

Where’s the fairness and justice? Have you ever heard of ministers’ son dying whilst in National Service. Certainly, NO! Preferential treatment, highly protected from harm’s way. That’s the ‘rugged society’ for you from that silly Lee.

My fellow citizens, the time has come when we should be asking: Do we want more of the same or do we want a game change? Hitherto, the PAP government have been calling the shots and they pay scant heed or attention to the well being of the peasants (you and me). This is untenable. Totally unacceptable.

So, like so many others and yours truly, do join in the fight for accountability from this bad government. I’m quite sure that if the books were all open our eyes will bulge like goldfish! This is a government given to excess and waste and mismanagement . They do not understand Value for Money. But, wait, it’s amazing how they know how to get money for themselves! Pretty useless mob thus far ……… until they can demonstrate good outcomes or results I will not resile from my stinging criticism.

The subject matter of deaths in NS: please have a detailed evaluation of this. Why, can it be avoided, training needs to be fine tuned, etc., etc.?

Our leaders are crying out for more babies. Their argument: we are not replacing ourselves. Yet our young men are allowed to perish apparently without concern from the authorities. Hypocrites!

One death from our loyal citizenry whilst training in National Service to protect our country and people is Certainly One Death Too Many!

He wore life jacket and yet drowned (presumably) and then died.

Have the fishes eaten the life jacket or what to deprive him of protection?

The point is: Is the life jacket protective?

    Were the harnesses tight?

    Was the boat leaking?

    Was it properl;y maintained?

    Was the training safe?

Was there any undetected currents below?

The authorties that be ought to answer these questions (though the probably will).

We owe our soldiers a duty to ensure they are safe.
