WP NCMP praises PM Lee for hearing the ‘voices’ of Singaporeans

Posted by temasektimes on August 27, 2012

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s National Day Rally speech was well received by many Singaporeans, including ‘opposition’ MPs such as WP NCMP Yee Jenn Jong.

PM Lee had earlier promised to have a national conversation with Singaporeans and to work together with them in writing the next chapter of Singapore’s future

Speaking to queries from the state media, Mr Yee was full of praise for PM Lee’s speech:

“It’d be good when something is really done, that the voices are heard. Like I said, there are a lot of voices that are already heard. I don’t think there (will be) any new views that will be surfaced.”

MP for Moulmein-Kallang GRC Denise Phua said such a move will provide an insight into the future.

“We need to, in this national conversation, really uncover what Singaporeans really want for the next 20 to 30 years. There are tensions like, do we still believe in the basic rules of engagement — that family is the frontier… the first line of defence?”

However, other than Mr Yee, the other WP MPs are strangely silent on PM Lee’s rally speech which has sparked an active discussion among Singaporeans in cyberspace.

A quick check on the Facebook pages of WP MPs revealed that they have not been updated for the past two weeks and none of them posted their thoughts about National Day or the pressing issues facing Singapore.

Attached below is WP MP Chen Show Mao’s ‘latest’ post on his Facebook page:

I didn’t know Facebook is now the OFFICIAL platform for politicians to make their views??!! Grow up lah TT, use Facebook to gauge the work of a politician?? Joke man.

    Mod’s note:

But even without Facebook, the WP MPs have been ‘missing in action’ for a long time.

Maybe they are actually doing their work as MP where it’s needed the most – like serving the residents.

      Mod’s reply:

Yeah, the ‘Wayang Party’ is busy doing its work by lending a veneer of legitimacy to the PAP autocracy.

    • Facebook is Dead said

Oh oh oh, so can u tell us what has the other PAP MPs been doing?? Fly to London to see Olympics??

  2. Advancing the commoners’ interest does not equate to opposing for opposing’s sake. If the PAPie ruling clique has done right by the ppl., then by all means, support what they do. How else can the nation progress and the opp to be a credible opp?
TT is a divisive medium trying to divide opp camp thru confusion and divisive support for opp parties.

W/o TT etc. PAP will listen. Dream on. They will juz take true blue sporeans for granted. We haf been submissive for too long. All the problems they have caused occured in other countries would have resulted in riots n street demo, not juz voicing our opinioms in TT. Wake up Leopards

Look at your dearest TPL and Desmod Choo’s facebook, when was it last updated and did it mention anything regarding the PM’s speech?

This does not look like praise to me :

“It’d be good when something is really done, that the voices are heard. Like I said, there are a lot of voices that are already heard. I don’t think there (will be) any new views that will be surfaced.”

He’s basically saying : “Talk is cheap, action is key. You want feedback from the people about what kind of Singapore they want – they’ve already told you. Question is : are you willing to do it”.

And “missing in action” is not fair comment. The WP held a round-table giving feedback on procreation policy. It was in the ST. Funny that you missed it!!

TT sounded like Dr Poh Lee Guan on one of his revenge trip…now wait a minute….. it could be Dr Chee Soon Juan himself…… Please have a sweet. Your life is too bitter liao.. PAP or WP is good for Singapore as they can work together…. SDP is too abrasive…… they will never get my vote with this strain of resistance…

    Mod’s note:

Of course PAP is working well with WP. It’s one big happy ‘family’. No difference between the two except the color of their shirts. A vote for WP = A vote for PAP! Please spread the message!

    TT is a troll…

    • Sweety said

And they had a dammed stupid moderator…… wondered if they are from Singapore?

    • Jaded said

nope, TT is the backup mouthpiece for the pappies, the B Team to the A Team SPH.

      • Naivety said

No wonder lah as they always like to run down the Opp Parties especially the WP, make extremely wild accusations, unfair insinuations, report deliberate untruths & the like, etc etc…

  8. alexa said

Why TT never ask another TT (TONY TAN) where he have been missing after become a President. Did we hear any speech from him????? Why TT always shoot at WP but not other oppositions?????Stop being bias TT.

    We need a COUP!

No wonder the 8 Vichy Opposition are always so incredibly and obediently quiet during Parliament…..

Who need to hear these 8 Opposition kapo when the government has already heard voices of the people?

    Mod’s note:

Do you expect the PAP’s ‘B’ team to oppose its ‘A’ team? WP MPs can’t open their golden mouths or pussies till they get the green light from the PAP HQ you know.

I’m pretty sure silence is golden in certain periods. On the other hand, I’m sure I am not biased to say that our Temasek Times’ moderator is “barking” up the wrong tree, literally. TT should be checking on PAP as the government, not trolling opposition supporters. :3

      Mod’s note:

It’s the duty of the elected opposition to check on the govt, not us and it is pretty obvious that they are sleeping on their job. An opposition party which does not oppose is better off dead.

Is Chen’s post ’bout Man City even relevant?

WP NCMP Yee Jenn Jong must be drunk or on dope to believe the crap from LHL, Singapore’s Prime Mediocrity.

    Mod’s note:

He is merely licking LHL’s boots as WP MPs are wont to do. They are not known as the ‘wayang’ clowns for nothing. A vote for WP = A vote for PAP! Please help spread the message!

    • Smith said

NCMP Yee is NOT drunk. It is our dear moderator of Temasek Times who misinterpreted Yee’s message. I copy this from a fellow commentator above “anon” :

“This does not look like praise to me :

“It’d be good when something is really done, that the voices are heard. Like I said, there are a lot of voices that are already heard. I don’t think there (will be) any new views that will be surfaced.”

He’s basically saying : “Talk is cheap, action is key. You want feedback from the people about what kind of Singapore they want – they’ve already told you. Question is : are you willing to do it”.
