WP NCMP praises PM Lee for hearing the ‘voices’ of Singaporeans
Posted by temasektimes on August 27, 2012
PM Lee had earlier promised to have a national conversation with Singaporeans and to work together with them in writing the next chapter of Singapore’s future
Speaking to queries from the state media, Mr Yee was full of praise for PM Lee’s speech:
“It’d be good when something is really done, that the voices are heard. Like I said, there are a lot of voices that are already heard. I don’t think there (will be) any new views that will be surfaced.”
MP for Moulmein-Kallang GRC Denise Phua said such a move will provide an insight into the future.
“We need to, in this national conversation, really uncover what Singaporeans really want for the next 20 to 30 years. There are tensions like, do we still believe in the basic rules of engagement — that family is the frontier… the first line of defence?”
However, other than Mr Yee, the other WP MPs are strangely silent on PM Lee’s rally speech which has sparked an active discussion among Singaporeans in cyberspace.
A quick check on the Facebook pages of WP MPs revealed that they have not been updated for the past two weeks and none of them posted their thoughts about National Day or the pressing issues facing Singapore.
