Dr Amy Khor reminds Singaporeans: We will ‘listen’ to your views, but not all will be taken into account

Posted by temasektimes on August 28, 2012

Is the ‘National Conversation’ another ‘wayang kulit’ put u[ by the government to ‘show’ Singaporeans that they are ‘listening’, but without any concrete actions taken to address their grievances?

It seems to be another PR exercise judging from the comments made by REACH Chairman and PAP MP Dr Amy Khor who issued a timely reminder to Singaporeans that “the government will hear all views and suggestions, but not all can be taken into account.”

In an interview with the state station 93.8 Live, Dr Amy Khor said:

“I think that the key really is to close the loop. Not all suggestions can be taken into account, of course. We will hear all views and all suggestions, but as in all things, there will always be trade-offs.”

On one hand, PAP leaders have been calling on Singaporeans to contribute their views on the future of Singapore, but on the other hand, not all their views will be accepted.

“There has to be balance because there are diverse views but what is important is that we close the loop. So, I think if suggestions are not taken into account, we should explain why they cannot be taken into account,” Dr Amy Khor added.

FTs is the right call. We go on with the present quality and quantity of Singaporeans, we are finished! 70% foreign settlers, 30% locals should be the right balance in population today and not 40% foreign 60% locals. Period!

The most USELESS exercise is one in which you already have a CLOSED MIND and only seek to hear what you want to hear and filter out other view points as mere NOISE. This is not a National Conversation but another attempt by the arrogant KNOW-IT -ALLs to gain a platform to BRAIN-WASH since many are not reading /following the MSM anymore. This is what the REACH chairman is alluding to. MIW’s Singapour Theatre Commedienne.

Yup, it’s totally inline with the election rally last time: We will promise everything, but not all our promises can be taken into account, or put into action.

The way you talk as if you can deliver 100% of whatever suggestions the public wants. Shit, put yourself 24 hrs in PMs shoes and you will pea in your whatever you are wearing. Piece of shit is what u are!!!!!

  8. Unless govt is prepared to touch base to empathise and to share equal misery with the ppl in the current hard times, among other things, to cut back on the humongous salaries of ministers and PAPie cronies even with some personal sacrifice as necessary, the whole exercise of PAPie connectivity with the rest of us wld be again a big ‘wayang kulit’ without substance.
So is the ruling PAP clique ready to come down from their high clouds to meet common ground or be voted out come next GE which really is not far round the corner??
It much looks like the PAPies wld be unable to change tack as they’re too steep in the rut of disconnectivity with the rest of us for too long to come real.
So we can assume the current exercise will be nothing more than a PR exercise to appease commoners and to get their support for the PAPies’ elitist policies at the expense of the rest of us.

We are watching PAp very closely….and by 2016 PAP will be sitting in the Opposition Section benches…The opposition need on 11 % more votes to form the next Government..

    Mod’s note:

You are dreaming – you forgot the public pledge by the ‘Wayang Party’ to form a coalition govt with the PAP?

‘If the PAP fails to win a majority in the next GE, the Workers Party will form a coalition govt with it to keep it in power.’

    – WP MP Pritam Singh, May 2011

    • Dr Ken MANSUKHANI said

And you think the PAP is not watching you? Keep on dreaming leopard. Time will tell. You go ahead and give your vote to anyone you want with PAPs exception. Bottom line, it’s still the PAP in the morning after victory parade. Period!

Truly LISTENING or just simply HEARING? “SELECTIVE HEARING” sounds more like it. Of course, the GOVT. HEARS the PEOPLE LOUD and CLEAR! However, they WILL LISTEN to ONLY WHAT THEY WANT TO HEAR. Anything else will be totally ignored and brushed aside as “NOISE IN THE WILDERNESS”. In any case, they will likely still APPEAR to be TRYING HARD to “LISTEN” as always?

  12. Dr Ken MANSUKHANI said

Dr Amy Khor is only stating facts here and she is right in saying all suggestions are welcomed but not all to be taken into account. What on earth are you Singaporeans thinking? One million suggestions and all one million suggestion wishes of yours to be granted? If given the opportunity, you Singaporeans will sink Singapore into the deepest end of the ocean by squandering Singapore’s reserves within 24 hours! Hard work can’t do, babies cannot produce, cry baby no problem, big house must have with atap house prices, credit card can’t do without, foreigners here your big enemy, bicker and complain a must, speak singlish and sound like shit a definite must. For the love of God, hey Singaporeans, those of you who are not up for Singapore, the exit doors are wide open for you to FO! And yes, don’t even think about comming back! Singapore is in dire need of a major blood transfusion procedure at the moment for new blood immigrants who will make a positive difference to this country. Our PM and his team are after all humans and there is so much they can do for Singaporeans. Don’t piss them off and expect any Wayang Parties or Singapore Damage Parties to come in and do the job. We will all regret it big time!!!!

    agree 100% Dr Ken

    • Dr Ken MANSUKHANI said

Thanks Johanes. I am truly shocked with Singaporeans who make idiotic attempts at undermining our government and foreign settlers. I am born in Singapore and will not stand for or with Singaporeans who think Singapore belongs to their respective fathers. Truth of the matter is, such people should just get the hell out of Singapire. Have a nice day Johanes!

We have a good govt. They listen to what you have to say but do what they want to do.

  16. Hi OP, you seem to be suggesting that if person A tells the government to build a fountain and another say they don’t want the fountain, the government should listen to all of them and build a fountain then leave a hole next to the fountain to show they didn’t build a fountain when it’s obvious they did?. Let’s be honest here, the comment from the minister is a fair one.
