Second body found in Bedok Reservoir

Posted by temasektimes on September 3, 2012

Hours after the body of a middle-age man was found floating in Bedok Reservoir at 6.52am on Sunday, another body was found there on the same day at 6.30pm.

A police spokesperson confirmed that they had received a call at about 1.59pm on September 2, informing them of a man found unresponsive on a bench at Bedok Reservoir Park.

Upon arrival, the police found the body of a 74-year-old man on the said bench. Paramedics later declared him dead at the scene. The cause of death is unknown.

The latest death at Bedok Reservoir is the ninth one since June last year, earning it the tag of being Singapore’s ‘suicide hub’.

Your caption ‘Second body found in Bedok Reservoir’ is misleading. as it conveys the impression of another
suicide, and probably by drowning. But the report says he was 74 years old and on a bench.

  2. First of all, this second victim did not jump into the reservoir. Second, the body was found on a bench. So anything could have happened. Given his age, and the body’s location, it is possible that natural causes are involved.
So such a report shouldn’t be posted here.

Singapore is a really miserable place.

Married people don’t want to have children and parents with children want to emigrate.

Many who have the misfortune of being unable to emigrate, end up depressed and taking their own lives.

Hopefully, we can see change in 2016 or the same sad story endings will happen to the new citizens who have come to replaced us.

It is hard to be old in this country. I am approaching 55 next year and already i find living life here is tough.. Everything is so expensive and yet the old has to struggle 2 work 4 peanuts. The Golden Age? expect 4 the rich ones!!!

hello everyone. i saw this old man motionless on the bench when i was cycling at Bedok Reservoir yesterday afternoon, at around 3pm. large red ants were crawling all over his body. his bicycle was parked near him. three policemen surrounded him and an ambulance was parked nearby. it was quite obvious that he had been dead for some time. it seems that he died of natural causes and not suicide, as he was sitting down on the bench in a normal way. maybe his heart suddenly stopped or something. may he RIP

The police and army should be patrolling the area with M16s instead of the airport. What is the use of buying so expensive equipment if we cannot use that to find a body? SAF have 300 000 so.ldiers but cannot guard 1 sma reserviors?
