Law Society applies to strike out M Ravi’s defamation suit against it

Posted by temasektimes on September 4, 2012

The Law Society has submitted an application to court to strike out Human Rights lawyer M Ravi’s defamation suit against it.

M Ravi had earlier filed a suit against the Law Society for defamation, alleging among other things that it instructed its member Wong Siew Hong to reveal his medical condition publicly in High Court which cast doubts on his professional competence.

In its defence document, the Law Society denied instructing Mr Wong to submit the letter. It also applied to the court to strike out Mr Ravi’s claims on the basis “that it discloses no reasonable cause of action”, adding that it had “legitimate duty” and interest to hand over the letter to the court and to the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

They are obviously trying to do to Ravi what they did to CSJ years ago.
Sadly they will succeed if they have the complete blessing of the PAP Govt!

Yes if there is such a thing as “legitimate duty” to do what it did, is it necessary that this action be made known to the public especially its contents which can and is damaging to a person’s career and livelihood.

Where got logic in Law Soc claim? It ‘deny instructing Mr Wong to submit the letter, but also got “legitimate duty”and
interest to hand over the letter to court and A-G Chambers’. So unlucky Mr Wong is stool pigeon or carrier pigeon?

What kind of LAW here in Singapore is up th the Whole World to Judge. Even our Law Society is not aware and cannot differentiate between WHAT IS RIGHT AND WHAT IS WRONG IN LAW.
