CNA poll: Only 31 percent of Singaporeans believe the next generation will have a better future

Posted by temasektimes on September 16, 2012

When Education Minister Heng Swee Keat asked the audience of some 20 people during the first session of the ‘Singapore Conversation’ aired on Friday if they believe the next generation will have a better future, about 70 percent agree which prompted him to describe it as an ‘encouraging’ sign:

“I’m actually quite optimistic when I hear from all of you. When you talk about values, many of you have expressed aspirations about the Singapore that you want,” he said.

However, an online poll conducted by Channel News Asia at the same time reveals the opposite:

Netizens have pointed out that a number of people in the audience are PAP members including one American new citizen who is often spotted at PAP events.

It is not known how the participants are selected for the ‘Singapore Conversation’ which certainly does not reflect the prevailing sentiments on the ground.

Same wayang show like they put up at Queenstown for the visiting Royals

  2. Nobody really believes any of the BS figures they give anymore.

For them wayang is more important than reality.

How to have a meaningful conversation with clueless politicians living in their own delusional world.

Take a close look at the recent statistics they have provided.

Crime down, traffic accidents down, corruption down, etc, etc and etc.

I mean, our population has doubled over the past 10 years or so, for goodness sake.

Are all the foreign talents brought in over those years angels and saints?

    These useless elites are incorrigible.

Even in the digital age of easy and instant access to information, they are still trying to decieve us with misinformation.

Anecdotal evidence would seem to suggest that the CNA poll is an accurate reflection of how the majority of Singaporeans no longer feel there is no future in this country anymore.

If you would govern a state of a thousand chariots (a small-to-middle-size state), you must pay strict attention to business, be true to your word, be economical in expenditure and love the people. You should use them according to the seasons(i.e. You should not enlist farmers during seeding or harvest time).

In Singapore, unlike other democracies, you choose your audience, who in turn will ask questions posed to them to ask and you get a predictable reply. Ask ST journalist who cover events by PM & Cabinet Ministers – they are prompted to ask questions on the walkabouts, those questions are given to the ST Editor who then delegate the questions like a faithful dog.
The agenda to the Straits Times is given by the PAP government – on what to publish, who to denigrate, how to glorify our chosen Messiah Lee Hsien Loong. Thats the Singapore Conversation.

Wtf…fake statistics & fake audience! What do you think & expect?

The participants in the “National ConTheNation” session are all PAP supporters & members & what questions ought to ask and answers to be given are all fielded beforehand & in advance just like in a simulation & modelling exercise or game…really defeats the purpose of having the session at all…wayang kulit at the highest level!

Now we know why there weren’t any embarrassing questions throw at them. When that man and his ideas going to wake up? And stop calling us xenophobic. We are not. We became like that partly because of govt policies! We are just normal citizens whose rice bow and identity are at stake, whose standard of living is dropping since the hell gate was open 7 years ago. Stop cheating ourselves by just looking at record no. of millionaires in our country & impressive GDP to show off. I challenge the committee to open up to any people who wanted to discuss our future (if there’s any), and stop selecting ‘certain’ groups of people and tell us these people represent ‘us’ because it is a good mix.
