Pinoys called Singaporeans ‘bloody dogs’, ‘parrots’ and other derogatory names in heated exchange on Facebook

Posted by temasektimes on March 22, 2012

In a sign that tensions between Singaporeans and foreigners are reaching a boiling point, a seemingly innocuous thread on the recent accident at Boon Lay MRT station on the Facebook of inSing News soon degenerated into a slugfest between Singaporeans and Filipinos working in Singapore!

The shouting match was triggered by a Singaporean Clayton Teo who commented that the accident in which a few commuters fell and rolled down the escalator is likely to be caused by an impatient ‘asshole’ who tried to force his way past the crowd up the escalator, adding:

“High chance that impatient asshole is some FT too!”

His comment prompted a sharp rebuke from a Filipino Girle Ghayle Medina followed by a torrent of criticisms from other pinoys attacking Singaporeans:

“Foreign workers fault and need to blame again!!! My goodness and make me laugh LOL!!!!”

One arrogant ‘yaya-papaya’ Filipino man Kyle Mercado Medina working in Singapore retorted in broken English:

“Why the other Singaporean they are unreasonable? Always blame the FT here. I don’t know what brain they have funny. Then ask your government to send back in our own country. Let me see if what happen.Hahaha!”

Ghayle then asked Singaporeans to accept the ‘reality’ that 90% of the workers in Singapore are ‘foreign’ because ‘our knowledge is in above and your country needs our knowledge and talent!!”:

When some Singaporeans tried to reason with the Filipinos, another pinoy Grace Aquiler said in a sarcastic tone:

“really hopeless, hahahahaha….childish, unreasonable, uncivilized, unrespectful, hard-headed….grow up people!”

One peeved Singaporean tried to put the Filipinos in place and was duly insulted:

As expected, the ‘molly-coddled’ Singaporeans were no match for their ‘harder-driving’ brethren from the Philippines and they eventually shut up and went to bed.

Singaporeans should be reminded not to complain to their MPs (PAP and WP alike) lest they are called to ‘reflect’ on their own behavior again.

I’m a working Singaporean. Somehow, I neither blame the FT nor the singaporeans for this issue. It’s just some group of people who are trying to create problems. Most of us are not really bothered with this and we have to move on. The group who follows these are the problematic ones as they tend to get too personal. It’s not that I don’t care. I just want peace and do not want problems, that’s all. It’s a fact that Singapore have so many FT. But if we work together, They will still be problems, but at least everyone will be a little happier..

    • Sandzman said

Singaporeans are generally peaceful, but if the FTs were to WANT to work harmoniously with us, know their places, not affect our lives and know their fucking places, then we would have no problems.

Socially, Singapore is a brewing stew of problems, the govt is actually the ones to be blamed but the FTs have to learn to conduct themselves first and show some form of culture in our society.

You do not in any case, come into another country and belittle, disrespect and insult the natives of the land. It is like me having dinner at your house, eating everything and then complain that the food sucked. It is also no longer a matter of working for now, our future generations are at risk, they will be born into a ridiculous time when their Singapore IC means as much as a piece of A4 paper.

Singaporeans calm down. There is no way Singapore can win this battle of words and mudslinging. Soon more and more foreigners will jump in and call Singaporeans all kinds of animals and worse.

Most foreigners here are respectful of Singaporeans. Most are in the service industry. They do face scoldings, stresses, etc. The maids even suffer mental and physical abuse sometimes. Let us all be forgiving and not go overboard.

If we are not happy with too many FTs it is not because of their behaviour, attitude or even diligence. It is an issue for the government to address on a country-wide basis.

Specific individuals who insulted Singaporeans like the PRC scholar needs to be taken to task.

Don’t blame the people. blame the government who started all these issues. if things are more controlled, things will not be this bad. it is the government fault. change the government!

the best part about this post is the users comments on this post (except the pizza hut comment). I am thankful that SGeans are sensible and not unlike the ones who posted things on FB.

Although I must admit, there was no need for an inflammatory spark by one Clayton Teo to speculate that it must have been some impatient a**hole FT, which probably was the whole reason this thing spurned out of control. Unless you know the facts, don’t blame anything and everything under the sun on foreigners. It only shows that you are immature and have a herd mentality (just bcos everyone blames foreigners, I might as well join the clan!) During morning peak hours, I have seen SGeans and foreigners scrambling at bus stops w/o any organization, when the bus arrives. It doesn’t depend on nationality. It depends on mentality.

I do agree foreigners are unruly, but not all. Similarly, there are so many SGeans who behave exactly the same way or worse off than foreigners. That doesn’t mean all SGeans are bad, now does it?

So please stop randomly pointing fingers at anyone, just because you can!

What’s happening in Singapore is unique (and disgraceful) b’cos you don’t see foreigners living in other countries dare to take an insolent / belligerent attitude by openly mocking / criticizing the locals there.

They don’t dare to, b’cos Governments in other countries do not tolerate such attitudes by foreigners against its citizens.

The problem we see here in Singapore is b’cos the PAP Government has gone overboard in welcoming foreigners into the country, and to openly value them over Singaporeans. Naturally, these foreigners get arrogant and feel that they can freely insult the locals, knowing well that they will be protected by the PAPpies.

If the Singapore Government does not take control of the situation, or change its attitude, something’s gotta give.

We will either see the change now, or in GE 2016.

Look, i have to admit that i am a filipino and sometimes some are in a mess. I study here and i must say it is great to be here. Not all Filipinos are like his and please do understand. Yes I am ashamed that they did this, but without us, imagine a country without foreigners. All of you would be building your own building and houses, you have to take care of your own children. And if you look into the history of Singapore, technically, Chinese, Indians and The British were actually foreigners too. If you want us to move, it is like saying that the “malaya”, which was somehow living first than the rest, want them to move the “other” so called foreigner too.

Yes that those Filipinos are stupid and i have to admit that since what they did was wrong, however, not ALL Filipinos are like that.

      • Jes said

I don’t think when Singaporeans ‘dislike’ foreigners they mean all. As you’ve always heard or read, we say “if you don’t like Singapore so much then go home”. So I believe Singaporeans are just demanding respect from all. As long as behavior and mindset is good, we welcome you. Same to Singaporeans, we dislike locals when they misbehave. Hence it’s the behavior we condemn, not the nationality. People who condemn all are just immatured and highly likely are one of those with bad behavior.

90% in the workforce are not FT

    90% locals 10% FT

  10. Disappointment said

I wouldn’t waste my time. Even if all the FTs start to scold the Singaporeans, the government will still protect them and offer them places to work or study at. When you see that the government is protecting its interest by sucking up to the FTs, Singaporeans already shake head, of course the FTs are laughing at us and calling us useless. Our government is not a good role model so take heed and faster move out of the country. It will never be the HOME we knew again. So disappointed.

Well, I admit they are “well” educated since each and every one of them apparently has a College Degree that comes with a BS in Computer Science. See BS not BSc. That’s why they are good at Bull-Shitting = BS

  14. Bryce Lim said

To all you hotheads out there, take a chill pill!

First off, I would like to start off by asking you guys this.

Do you know why Singapore had foreigners to come?

Well, because Singapore started off from a small fishing village. Stamford Raffles helped pave a future path for Singapore to tread on. Unfortunately, that path was unfinished, so us Singaporeans had to consider a few things in order to advance in society. One of that, was ‘enlarging’ our talent pool.

Did you also know that Singapore is advanced in the fields of electronics and science and technology and all that shit? Please kindly pardon my choice of words, but yeah, Singapore wouldn’t be where it is if it weren’t for them.

For me, I’m just a kid, 15 years of age. And please don’t judge me, and say stuff like, “oh you ignorant kid, buzz off, this ain’t yo biz”

Well it is my business, because I’m Singaporean, just like the rest of you.

To all you adults out there, especially those who’ve learnt about Singapore’s history, well, you’d know why Singapore even invited those foreign people in.

    Personally, I’m AGAINST racism.

There was this particular incident, when I’ve been on the bus, and I saw a man who had a rather chocolate-brownish complexion and skin color. There were people standin next to im, and none of em wanted to sit beside him, as there was an empty seat. I, however, took the seat and showed those people there’s more to racism than what is. Discrimination should be removed from our mentality, and replace it with equality and love. Treat em how you wish to be treated. Get it right, sonny!

Anyways, do any of you, adults in particular, remember the Maria Hertogh riots? Oh sure, I’m a kid and all, and yeah, I’m a hipster and whatnot, but at least I’m able to distinguish good from bad. So anyways, back to the topic.

The Maria Hertogh riots was pulled off just cus people didn’t support an interracial marriage. Co’mon! Are we so blinded by the ‘superiority’ of our own races, that we start discriminating and shizz? We are not superior to any other race, and will never be. We were all created in a humanoid form. We are all equal. We are born equal. So start treatin everyone the same, and don’t be some dude who thinks that you sit in the highest of places. ‘Superiority’ is just something we see, a mental void in our minds that deceive us, makin us more arrogant in the process, and eventually, well…. we become a douchebag and start discriminatin and we would eventually welcome racism into our lives. It is a lie, don’t you see?

Also, our upbringing starts with our parents. If you don’t want your kids to be ill-raised, then start adopting a right mind. I was influenced by all some of my racist friends, but I paid no ear to it. Why? I didn’t want myself to be as ‘corrupt’ in that field of thinking.

So I saw the post about us fellow singaporeans barkin it out with the foreigners. Pretty shit move, there. It can instill unrest, and might cause another riot. That is, if there are brave-enough souls to pull it off, what, with the current government system? I love how our government runs, and I love it too how we’re one of the SAFEST places on the globe.

But anyway, my point is, we need the foreigners. So what if they come and ruin everything? We have a part in this, and that is to play our roles. Do good things, and don’t discriminate any race. What difference does it make if you insult them? It only makes you look like jerkish. Committing foul douchebaggery, I’d say. What say you if you went to a foreign land, and people keeps on insultin you? An example would be in Oz. I’ve had people who were discriminated against, because of the people there. They are so racist to the extent that they would shout across the road to a fellow chink saying stuff like, GET BACK TO YOUR OWN COUNTRY AND GET OFF OUR GROUNDS! Yes, they’re THAT racist, so I don’t think we should have a country like that. And yes, I’m Chinese.

Personally, I would like to repeat this again. I am AGAINST racism. I have many friends, each of which comes from a different race. I’ve got 2 best friends, one of which is american, the other, hawaiian. I’ve also got british and australian friends, not forgetting indonesian, korean, filipinos…. tons of em. They all treat me good. And why? Cus i chose to return them the favor by treating them good as well! Even if they treat me bad, I turn a blind eye to it. They will change, in due time, and see what difference it makes just by your behaviour alone.

So, havin non-local friends is actually good, cus we can learn for their culture and all. Don’t keep thinkin of the negative stuffs, but instead, ponder over the good things. Keepin optimistic is a key thing in life.

So anyways, STOP judgin and actually do something! Change your outlook, and your attitude towards the other races.

If you have read my whole message until this point, I would like to thank you for sincerely reading the whole damn thing. So yeah, I really hope you be respectful, and love them just as how you wished to be loved. Trust me, if you actually don’t discriminate them, you’d be seein a change. And that change is soon.

hey. Roxi here! well said my dear 🙂 You made me happy! People shouldn’t blame the filipinos. They should blame the person itself instead! Thank you 🙂

    • Singapore Teenager said

This is definitely coming from someone that’s 15, or rather <16.
I used to think the same way as you. I used to rant at my friends for being racist and whatever.
But this is reality and when you step into the real working world, things aren't as positive as you think they are.
I've personally worked with many people from different countries like China, Vietnam and Philippine.
To be honest, working with the Filipinos are fine.
Only when they are minority. Previously, i had a new supervisor who knows nothing about the operation at work. No doubt, Filipino. She came in very humble, willing to listen to us and stuffs. When another new Filipino staff joined in, the supervisor covered all her mistakes and blame everything on us. Yeah, we are teenagers. To her, teenagers means that we have no rights to interfere in her 'mgt' stuff. That is Case 1.
Case 2, i was the only Non-Filipino staff working there. Whenever there's a complaint of whatever, they would blame me and threaten to deduct my pay. When it's peak period, they can hide at the resting area and slack their butts off while i work hard alone at the counter.
In case you wonder what's my job, it's Gongcha at Bishan and MBS.
Yeah, just working for a year with them.. I've had enough, totally enough.
But i would still highlight that i am not against Foreigners and Filipinos. I target at individual. However, these individuals still come under FT. So when you address the whole grp of colleagues, you would still address as the FTs isn't it?
Have a taste of the society before you give such innocent respond.

Roxi – Sometimes it's really hard not to blame the Filipinos. You have to know that, there is really VERY little people that's like you. Most of them behaves the same. Even if i have a heart of an angel, i dont think i can tolerate their nonsense for long. And it's really overboard.

If you look back at the history of SIngapore, you will realise that SIngapore is actually a migrant nation. Our forefathers came mainly from China, India and of course the Europeans.

They came to SIngapore in the hopes of finding their pot of gold and eventually settled down here.

However, when they settled down here, they truly called truly called SIngapore their home, with all intentions of letting their future generations take root here.

They may have been the very first FTs, but they were humble, and sincerely cared about the well being of the nation, their respective communities and contributed so much to nation building in all aspects, be it in the forms of donations, labour, or whatsoever.

It is true that without the FTs, Singapore might not be what it is today.

However, in today’s context, many FTs in SIngapore DO NOT regard Singapore as their homes. They regard Singapore as just a stepping stone, be it in their careers or to grow their monetary investments.

Truly, having worked in a MNC in Singapore will surely look good on their resumes. And for those who are here with their spouses, what better way to make a quick buck than to buy a HDB flat and to sell it for a 2-fold profit at the end of their stint?

FTs, please try to learn from our forefathers. May you enjoy your stay in SIngapore.

How did an article about a few Filipinos (Pinoy is a derogatory term) become something about foreigners? The Filipinos did NOT call Singaporeans bloody dogs. One Filipino called one Singaporean a bloody dog in a form of personal attack. Nothing to do here because the ‘incident’ is about a certain group of people flaming each other, using racial slurs… etc. And Temasek Times is not helping by sensationalizing such a petty incident, and using a racial slur in the headline.

Did you hear that anti-vice may soon allow pinoy hookers in Geylang? Yeah! For once some “foreign talent” I don’t mind. We can shut them up but stuffing their mouths with our d**ks. Maybe we should all learn the “latisha” accent from the noose to suan them too. I predict if this carries on, next election will not be a “watershed” it will be a “overturn” election. Really getting pissed off with all the FTs. Anyone been to KKH recently? These FTs are breeding like fucking cockroaches and they bring their parents and grandparents and whole family here, I wonder if the FT male kids will serve NS in 18 years time?

I am an Australian PR and if they ask me to serve NS in the Army there, I would do it, to pay my dues. Would all these parasite FTs do the same here?

  22. history screwed us up, no matter how i try to relate the founding of our country to the situation now, frankly, it didnt make sense.
true yes our great grandfather migrated here and and together built Singapore to what it is now. but then, Singapore was just like a clean sheet of paper, waiting to be crafted into a giant piece of art. as we grew, we enhance it with the very character we were moulded into since we set foot onto our life long journey. unfamiliar changes to the abovementioned art piece is gonna change the whole picture hence is offensive to those who contributed their sweat/blood/effort on it. we welcome anyone, as long as that person isnt part of the problem, of which everyone has been helping out to clean up all these years.

anyone who wishes to jump on board, has to know where this vessel is from, where its heading and the storms it faced right to the strong bonds among its people. most importantly, respect those who are already here with no intention to overthrow them into the cold waters.

this reminds me of an incident at my previous workplace where one filipino individual was employed. he then intro his mates into the company, very soon there was a group of them and they created politics which never exist before, and through dishonest means, got a few local employees discharged. worse was when i heard the same scenario happened in other companies as well. how can we not feel threatened and harbour hatred in them? we faced this kind of problems before among fellow citizens and things were getting better, people were employed based on their credibilities, then suddenly, the cycle happened again. this time was worse as the economy isnt as reliable, with living standards rising sharply and qualified professionals are getting older yet unemployed.

our frustrations are deep and not easily addressed by just small actions from the govt which we may have already lost faith in. hence the reason why most people get agitated easily when they come across such news. as much as how horrible that may be, we dont appreciate the foreigners turning defensive and insult the citizens and acclaim divinity. thats just gonna deepen the scar that already exists.

i see there are some who put in effort to explain, condemning disgusting acts performed by their fellow countrymates, of which i believe many appreciated. the more of your likes out there, the sooner this hatred would be neutralised.

the people who cant wait to exploit whatever’s left of our country belong to one race, human race. they can be local or foreigner. i believe, this happens everywhere. so conclusion? i have none, but i cant wait to see the day when everything goes our way. which i feel wont be anytime soon…
