Posted by temasektimes on April 16, 2012

A former police superintendent at the Police Training Command, Home Team Academy Jarrod Song Eu Loong, now known as Tan Wee Kiat was among the 44 men charged for having sex with an underage student in court on Monday.

As the Head of Strategic Planning, SUPT Jarrod Song was for training and grooming future police officers at the Academy. He reportedly tendered his resignation within 24 hours after being called up for questioning by the police. His name remains on the directory of the Singapore Police Force:

The online vice syndicate was founded and run by a 39 year old businessman Tang Boon Thiew who allegedly spilled the beans on his clients to save his own skin.

According to lawyers who spoke to the media, another 38 men will be charged in the days ahead, bringing the total number to 80.

The case shocked the entire nation as many of the clients are well-known professionals in Singapore including 9 civil servants, a senior banker, a company director, a senior vice-president of a private company, lawyers, and the ex-principal of Pei Chun Public School Lee Lip Hong who paid $500 twice to patronize the underage prostitute.

PIMP Tang Boon Thiew set up model agency as a front to persuade girls to offer sex services

Posted by temasektimes on April 16, 2012

The mastermind behind the online vice syndicate was reportedly a 39 year old businessman Tang Boon Thiew who studied overseas and was a director of at least five registered companies in Singapore.

According to media reports, Tang set up a model agency last year as a front to recruit potential prostitutes into the vice trade. The girls were first lured to work as models before being persuaded to offer sex services as well.

They were then taught by Tang on the ‘skills’ needed to make men happy in bed. He boasted on his porn site that all his prostitutes are models, undergraduates and white collar workers.

In a last-ditch effort to save his own skin, Tang sold his clients out by releasing their particulars to the police. 44 of them have been charged in court today for having sex with a minor, including Lee Lip Hong, the former principal of Pei Chun Public School. Tang has not been charged for any offences yet.

The prostitutes under Tang’s stable charged between $200 to more than $1000 per session with Tang taking a chunk of their earnings as commission.

Tang lives in a HDB flat in Bukit Panjang with his parents and drove a Mercedes Benz to work. Neighbors described him as a friendly and affable person and were shocked to learn that he earns his living off prostitutes.

Ex-principal of Pei Chun Public School Lee Lip Hong charged for having SEX with underage prostitute

Posted by temasektimes on April 16, 2012

Lee Lip Hong (pic left), the former principal of Pei Chun Public School has been charged with having paid sex with an underage girl he knew through an online vice syndicate which was busted last year by the police. He is among 44 people to be charged in court on Monday.

The other men include a senior banker, a company director, a senior vice-president of a private company, lawyers, a senior police officer, as well as a scholarship recipient.

Lee allegedly had sex with a 16 year old freelance prostitute, described as slim, 1.63m tall with C-cup breasts and weighs 48kg with the following ‘introduction’ on the porn website:

“(She) still has that naive girlishness, offers excellent sweet young thing, girlfriend experience….Advance booking for (her) is required, don’t leave it to least minute booking as it always almost won’t work!”

The 39-year-old is reportedly the only one who admitted to the two charges of having paid $500 on each of the two occasions for sex with the under-aged girl. He had sex with her at Hotel 81 Bencoolen on Sept 26 and Dec 14, 2010.

Previous reports have stated that he has a son from a marriage of over 10 years.

Parents of students studying at Pei Chun Public School were shocked and disgusted as Lee was known to have preached morality and ethics to students regularly during the morning assembly sessions of the school.

The school motto of Pei Chun Public School in Chinese is “礼义廉耻” (Courtesy, Justice, Honesty, Honour). Lee tendered his resignation from the school last year December after he was called up by the police for investigations.

Education Minister Heng Swee Kiat has earlier said it is important not to let “one or two incidents” tarnish the image of the teaching profession, because there are many good teachers around.

He added that there would be a couple of black sheep from time to time in spite of efforts to maintain professional standards.

BLACKOUT in SMRT train along North-South line yesterday

Posted by temasektimes on April 16, 2012

Beleaguered transport company SMRT seems to be mired in problems lately that not a single day passes without news of some ‘screw-up’ being reported in the press.

Two days after a massive disruption in service hit the East-West line due to a ‘train fault’, commuters abroad a SMRT train had to travel in darkness as they traveled south towards Raffles Place along North-South line.

According to one commuter who spoke to the media, he boarded the train at Novena at about 11.15am and was surprised to see the dimly lit train pull into the station.

“I was wondering why the train was still running in that situation, and was a bit worried that it would break down. It was a lucky thing it didn’t,” he said.

SMRT also did not make any announcements to inform passengers what the problem was or when it would be resolved

When contacted, an SMRT spokesman said that blackouts in its trains are “not common” and are “usually due to human error”.

“We can rectify the problem quickly as long as it is reported to our staff. In this case, we did not receive any report,” he said.

CGH insider: Nurse was asked not to lodge police report against pervert foreign doc who touched her buttocks

Posted by temasektimes on April 16, 2012

The CGH staff nurse who was allegedly molested by a foreign doctor from Sri Lanka, was reportedly ‘advised’ by the hospital NOT to lodge a police report against the culprit, according to an informant who wishes to remain anonymous.

A resident physician from Sri Lanka who works in the hospital’s Anaesthesia and Surgical Intensive Care department was accused of touching the buttocks of a nurse in an operating theatre earlier this month.

When contacted by the media, a CGH spokesperson confirmed the incident:

‘This is a very serious matter….The hospital expects the highest level of conduct from our staff at all times. We are investigating the allegation and the staff has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation,” she said.

However, according to information we received, CGH initially wanted to cover up the matter quietly to avoid adverse media publicity two weeks after another of its foreign doctor Ivan Ngeow Ko Yen found himself in the headlines after being charged for flashing his genitals to a NUS student cross-dressed in the female uniform of Victoria Junior College.

Though the nurse who was molested filed a complaint to the higher authorities in CGH, no disciplinary action was taken against the errant doctor until the news was leaked to the media which reported on it last week.

“The doctor was still working in CGH. He was only suspended when the media approached the hospital for an interview. By the way, he is not a resident physician, but a trainee in the SICU,” our informant said.

There are large number of foreign doctors working in CGH which seems to favor them over local doctors because of their lower salaries and supposedly wider experience as most of them are already working as ‘specialists’ in their homelands.

Last year, Indian national Thiyagarajan Mathimaran, 33, a doctor at CGH’s urology department at that time, was charged with molesting a 42-year-old woman in the hospital’s toilet. He was later cleared of the charge after he paid $5,000 to the woman he allegedly molested and was allowed to continue working as a doctor in CGH.

“The victim now doesn’t want to pursue the matter anymore as she is afraid to upset the hospital which may affect her chances in promotion in the future. This is not the first incident and there are many more which are covered up. I don’t know why CGH gives so much protection to foreign doctors while neglecting the interests of its female staff,” she added.

‘Pinoy drummer’ saga: MP Alex Yam raps CCK residents for not ‘understanding’ the plight of Filipino family

Posted by temasektimes on April 16, 2012

After being exposed rather embarrassingly that the ‘pinoy drummer’ issue has not been resolved yet, PAP MP Alex Yam now changes tact and raps Choa Chu Kang residents for not ‘understanding’ the plight of the Filipino family while insinuating that they are being ‘targeted’ because they are foreigners.

For months, Choa Chu Kang residents living in Block 608 of Choa Chu Kang Street 62 had to put up with the awful drumming of a Filipino boy who refused to tone down the volume despite numerous requests from neighbors, HDB officers and grassroots activists to do so.

Mr Yam has earlier said the issue has been ‘resolved’ on 24 March when the family acceded to the request for their child to play the drum only between 12pm-1pm and 6pm-7pm. However, when one resident Chong Li Ling pointed out that they did not adhere to what they have promised and ought to be issued with a summon, Mr Yam retorted callously that she should not make it ‘personal’.

“Is it more acute because it is a foreigner family? Has anyone tried to approach and clarify the situation? Does anyone know that the person drumming is a special needs person in a special school? Did anyone try to find out that the family is trying to save up to soundproof their place? Just so that their son to develop what they believe is his innate talent despite his special needs?”, Mr Yam posted on his Facebook, his tone appearing to blame Singaporeans for not being ‘understanding’ enough.

It appears from Mr Yam’s postings that the Filipino boy is a ‘special needs’ child and HDB is ‘bending over’ to appease the family to ensure their boy has the opportunity to develop his ‘innate talent’ regardless of the inconveniences it caused to other residents living in the same block.

Mr Yam then urged the resident to ’empathize’ with the Filipino family:

“Please consider that it is not going to be easy to have a special needs child whether local or foreign. And I fully empathise with all residents.”

Mr Yam’s empathy towards the Filipino family appears to contrast the response of a former PAP MP Lim Hwee Hua towards an earlier incident in which a Singaporean teenager who is mentally challenged smashed a chair against the door during a Meet-the-People session. A police report was lodged and he was arrested the very next day.

Though the boy apologized in person to her two days later, Ms Lim rejected the apology and refused to ask the police to withdraw the case. She further claimed that his chair “could have killed somebody”.

It is not revealed if the Filipino family are new citizens or PRs. One thing for sure, they certainly enjoy special privileges in Singapore and are a ‘protected’ species even as locals continue to be exhorted day in and out by PAP leaders to ‘integrate’ the newcomers and make them feel welcomed, accepted and welcomed here.

Is Low Thia Kiang using his political status to promote his business interests?

Posted by temasektimes on April 16, 2012

Is Aljunied MP and Secretary-General of the Workers Party Low Thia Kiang making use of his political status to promote his own business interests?

According to a tip-off we received from someone who had business dealings with Mr Low, he seems to leverage on his political status to boost his own business.

Attached below is his namecard:

“The things that politicians will do for fame, power or reputation are amusing and hilarious. MP for Hougang and Secretary-General of Workers’ Party, Mr Low Thia Kiang leverages on his political status to boost his own business. He uses this unscrupulous tactic so as to have an upper hand in the face of competitors. Just take a look at the name card and you will be slapped with right-in-your-face, hard sell marketing,” our informant who wishes to remain anonymous wrote.

He added that he is disappointed with Mr Low’s ‘marketing’ tactics:

“As a politician who claimed to be from a prestigious alternative party to the ruling party, Mr Low should have exercised more tact in political marketing and should not have monopolised on good samaritan acts to increase his business revenue. Call it unethical or not, this is definitely not the way to make money, and especially not a palatable way to attract customers or clients.”
